Itinerary

Silfra Iceland has frequently been rated as a world top ten dive sites. Where else can you snorkel literally between two continents? Silfra fissure is between the American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which have been moving apart at the rate of 2 cm per year. See amazing rock formations and colorful marine algae, including the bright green algae known as ‘troll hair’. Most people are very surprised to see brilliant jewel colors glowing within this deep blue/black world.

At Silfra our experienced and well-qualified diving guide will ensure you are provided with all of the equipment you need and even help you to put on your dry suit, gloves, headwear and other equipment. You will be given all of the information you need to dive safely and confidently. The water temperature at Silfra is between 2 C and 4 C but you will be comfortable in an insulated drysuit. Whether you are an experienced snorkeler or a beginner, you will feel your excitement rise as you contemplate the truly breathtaking snorkel you are about to make!

The water at Silfra flowed from Langjokull Glacier, it has been purified on its journey through lava for around half a century, giving Silfra the unrivaled crystal clear visibility for which it is renowned. This really is an extraordinary snorkeling experience, truly a one-of-a-kind dive!

You will discover extraordinary sights as you glide through Silfra´s four sections: the deep Silfra Crack which has a depth of 25 m, the bright and wide Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral with its rich blues and great depth (maximum 63 m) and the shallow Silfra Lagoon which offers the most exceptional visibility of all.

Definitely a must-do
A truly unique and amazing experience! The guides were professional, organised and knowledgeable, and everything ran smoothly.
